Main job purpose - The VCM, OCD R&D Manager contributes to the sustenance and growth strategy of the INOVYN PVC and OCD businesses, by constantly monitoring and improving the Ethylene Dichloride (EDC), Vinyl Chloride Monomer (VCM) and OCD processes and developing new technologies in the field of VCM and OCD. In these fields, he/she provides and develops the deep scientific and chemical understanding to the wider INOVYN organisation
• Steer and Manage R&D projects portfolio in line with Business and Production sites requirements.
• Specifically developing i/new oxychlorination catalyst and VCM-EDC production processes; ii/new OCD products and production processes including valorisation of CAL-EPI co-products.
• Provides key chemical and scientific expertise and input to the wider INOVYN organisation.
• Manages the VCM and OCD (R&D) laboratories located at Jemeppe (BE) and Porsgrunn (NO).
• Develops know-how tools, supports a deep scientific and chemical understanding and gives trainings on VCM and OCD to the wider organisation.
• Manages the OCD and VCM Intellectual Property (IP) portfolio.

• PhD in chemistry or chemical engineering or equivalent through extensive proven experience.
• 15+ years of experience in applied industrial R&D with a demonstrated track records of R&D achievements, including minimum 2-3 years of Managing R&D or equivalent team.
• High scientific understanding of chemical industrial processes and equipment with a strong background in heterogeneous and homogeneous catalysis and organic chemistry.
• Having a variety of experience in different areas is a plus (different R&D fields, different companies, production versus research,…)
• Knowledge of EDC, VCM, Ethylene, OCD and catalyst production processes (i.e. hazards, process chemistry, optimization, chemical engineering principles, material science, analytical and characterisation).
• Knowledge of process explorer / database tools such as ASPEN and SciFinder
• Demonstrate commitment for a safe work environment.
