Mechanical Development Engineer
The Role
Join a highly specialised engineering team developing advanced electrolyser technology for global markets. You’ll play a key role in improving product performance, reliability, and manufacturing capability while ensuring full compliance with SHE and engineering standards.
What You’ll Do
- Lead mechanical design and manufacturing process development for electrolyser technologies
- Support delivery of major projects, including BiChlor & Alkali Water Electrolysis (AWE) and wider capital programmes
- Drive continuous improvement to enhance quality, reduce costs, and increase capacity
- Provide engineering support to in-house manufacturing, pilot plants, and global supply chain partners
- Contribute to capital projects involving plant expansion, refurbishment, and process optimisation
- Support development and implementation of manufacturing processes including tooling, automation, and plant capability upgrades
- Work closely with suppliers to improve quality, performance, and production capability (Take technical ownership of supplier performance, driving quality, delivery, and cost improvements across a global supply chain)
- Identify and implement cost reduction and value engineering opportunities
- Carry out design analysis, risk assessments, and testing programmes
- Support the refurbishment and development of new and existing technologies
- Contribute to customer projects, ensuring technical accuracy and successful delivery
What We’re Looking For
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering
- Proven experience in a similar role
- Strong experience in manufacturing, fabrication, and precision engineering environments
- Knowledge of regulatory frameworks such as PED/PSSR, PUWER, LOLER, Machinery Directive
- Experience working with quality system (e.g. ISO 9001)
- Commercial awareness to support EBITDA growth
- Proven problem-solving skills (e.g. FMEA, root cause analysis)
- Ability to work effectively across teams and with external partners
- Self-motivated with the tenacity to see tasks and projects to completion

Recruitment Process
Initial Conversation
Shortlisted candidates may be invited to an MS Teams or telephone discussion to learn more about the role and share their experience.
Interview Stage
Successful candidates will be invited to an in-person interview including functional and behavioural discussions. Depending on the role, the process may also include technical assessments or presentations.
Offer Stage
Preferred candidates will receive a conditional offer subject to references, medical assessment and, where applicable, background checks.
Provisional Offer
If you are selected as the preferred candidate you will receive a provisional offer which will be subject to a medical assessment and reference checks. Some roles may also require a criminality check.
